Andrea Keck says that “jkidphilly has wonderful and interesting programs for my children. They offer education through fun and hands on activities that you just can’t get anywhere else. “Andrea says that their favorite activity was when they learned how to make challah. She appreciates that each child learned the traditional braid and was able to be creative with the “extra” ingredients. She says, “Who ever heard of making chocolate chip challah? It was delicious! jkidphilly also introduced us to PJLibrary where we have received age appropriate books for a few years now.”

We asked Andrea and Greg about their Jewish life at home and in the community.

What kind of Jewish activities do you enjoy at home?

A couple of our favorite activities include doing mitzvahs and hosting big family dinners. My children love to help people and the staff at jkidphilly introduced us to JRA where we put together boxes of non-perishable items for needy families. We host big family dinners for the Jewish holidays where we get to see our relatives that live in other states. This year for the first time, we invited friends for Passover. We like to make sure that everyone has a dinner to go to and if they don’t, they are invited to our house.

What are your favorite PJ Library books?

Our favorite books are in the picture as well as the one about Queen Esther. Julia loves to act out “Don’t Sneeze at the Wedding” with great voice inflections and Justin loves to learn about other Jewish baseball heros.

Are you part of any other organized Jewish communities?

We are planning on joining our local synagogue this summer.

What do you think other parents should know about jkidphilly?

Other parents, if they haven’t experienced the inclusive programs offered by jkidphilly for the children and parents should really take advantage and participate. My kids love to attend and always ask when the next one is before we leave the event we are attending! The age-appropriate PJLibrary books are a fan favorite. The children love to get mail and to see a large package in the mail makes their day. I have introduced some of my coworkers to the jkidphilly website and it is spreading across the East Coast. We all love the books and discuss our and our children’s favorite parts of the books.
