Lettie and Jason Switzer with their children, Lealah, 7 and Amari, 5.
We asked Lettie and Jason Switzer about their favorite Jewish activities, their connection to Jewish community, and the ways jkidphilly has impacted their family.
What do you enjoy about jkidphilly?
Sometimes it’s just too tiring to come up with an idea for an activity or craft that would be meaningful for my kids relating to Jewish holidays or Shabbat, but the programs that jkidphilly offers make it really easy to just show up and have an enjoyable and meaningful experience.
What kind of Jewish activities do you enjoy at home?
We enjoy PJ Library books and enjoy celebrating Shabbat every week with candles, juice, challah and board games.
What are your favorite PJ Library books?
We like Yaffa and Fatima, Shalom, Salaam because it demonstrates a strong friendship between two women of different religious and cultural background. It also exemplifies the thinking of others needs before your own.
Are you part of any other organized Jewish communities?
We go to Beth Am Israel in Bala Cynwyd.
What do you think other parents should know about jkidphilly?
Families of any background and any level of observance will feel comfortable at jkidphilly events. Programs are built to be inclusive of the whole Jewish community.
