We spoke to Mitch and Liz Jacobs about their favorite Jewish activities, their connection to Jewish community, and the ways jkidphilly has impacted their family.
What do you enjoy about jkidphilly?
We are new to the area, so the jkidphilly programs have been really helpful to us. We are able to meet new people and find fun, new places for our children. We really enjoy the activities and programs that are available to us through jkidphilly.
What kind of Jewish activities do you enjoy at home?
We LOVE reading our PJ library books! Our kids are still too little to really understand what it means to be Jewish and how to celebrate the holidays, but the PJ library books are a great way for them to start learning. We also really enjoy watching Shalom Sesame!
What are your favorite PJ Library books?
It is hard to choose just one! Right now, it’s probably ‘Purim Masquerade’ – our kids love holding up the book to their faces. Other favorites have been ‘Tikkun Olam Ted’, ‘Bubbe’s Got the Beat,’ ‘Dayenu!’ and ‘Noah’s Bed.’
Have you connected with other jkidphilly families?
Yes! It’s been a great way to meet new people. We’ve even met some children who will one day attend school with our daughter and son. We’ve been able to connect with some of their future classmates and their families, which has helped us feel a part of our new community.
What do you think other parents should know about jkidphilly?
jkidphilly is a great program and it has helped us connect and meet with other Jewish families in the area. We have really enjoyed all of the family programs, and the staff are so helpful!
