We spoke to Adam and Miriam Buchanan about their favorite Jewish activities, their connection to Jewish community, and the ways jkidphilly has impacted their family.
What do you enjoy about jkidphilly?
We really enjoy jkidphilly programs: Grandparents’ Day activity, tashlich, family yoga, challah baking, Side Yard Seedlings. The jkid staff are very nice and welcoming. We appreciate local programming where we can meet other Jewish families with young children.
What kind of Jewish activities do you enjoy at home?
We celebrate Shabbat as a family every Friday night. We read books about Jewish holidays and Elon and Maya love listening to Jewish music. We collect money that we find and donate our tzedakah findings to local charities.
What are your favorite PJ Library books?
Elon likes Beni’s Family Treasury because he “likes Jewish holidays.” Sadie’s Sukkah Breakfast is fun and Hello, Lily teaches important lessons about seniors and children. The Schmutzy Family is another favorite because getting messy is fun!

Yes,Main Line Reform Temple Preschool.
What do you think other parents should know about jkidphilly?
There is a wide variety of jkidphilly programming. Choose something of interest and give it a try. The events are fun and inclusive, and the kids have a great time.
