Challah French Toast

Ingredients
  

  • 1 loaf of plain or raisin challah bread if baked fresh, allow it to sit for at least one day
  • 7 large eggs
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp of nutmeg
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 3 tsp of ground cinnamon
  • Powdered sugar

Instructions
 

  • Cut Challah into 1-inch-thick slices
  • In medium dish mix eggs, vanilla extract, nutmeg, milk, and cinnamon
  • Place cut challah into dish, ensuring the egg batter covers both sides
  • Only soak what can fit in the pan and do not over soak
  • Melt butter or preferred oil on griddle or large pan
  • Add soaked challah and cook both sides until golden brown (2-3 minutes each)
  • Sprinkle powdered sugar over cook challah and enjoy

Notes

Challah French toast is a delicious breakfast item that is simple to make. This recipe started in my home as a way to utilize remaining challah from Shabbat.
