Challah French Toast
makes about 3 servings
Ingredients
- 1 loaf of plain or raisin challah bread if baked fresh, allow it to sit for at least one day
- 7 large eggs
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- ½ tsp of nutmeg
- 1 cup of milk
- 3 tsp of ground cinnamon
- Powdered sugar
Instructions
- Cut Challah into 1-inch-thick slices
- In medium dish mix eggs, vanilla extract, nutmeg, milk, and cinnamon
- Place cut challah into dish, ensuring the egg batter covers both sides
- Only soak what can fit in the pan and do not over soak
- Melt butter or preferred oil on griddle or large pan
- Add soaked challah and cook both sides until golden brown (2-3 minutes each)
- Sprinkle powdered sugar over cook challah and enjoy

Challah French toast is a delicious breakfast item that is simple to make. This recipe started in my home as a way to utilize remaining challah from Shabbat.
