Sukkot Serivce for Families with Young Children will begin at 11:00 AM in Lower Wolfson. Afterward we will head to the Sukkah for Kiddush.

Sukkot begins five days after Yom Kippur and is named for the sukkot (temporary huts) we build in honor of the holiday. BZBI will build a sukkah on the corner of 18th and Spruce to celebrate all 7 days of the holiday days and its intermediate days. According to rabbinic tradition, the sukkah represents the huts the Israelites dwelt in while wandering for 40 years in the desert. Sukkot is also an ancient harvest festival and many of the symbols (including the lulav and etrog) and rituals of the holiday connect to thanking God for the harvest.

Location: Temple Beth Zion-Beth Israel / 300 South 18th St. / Philadelphia, PA / 19103
