Join the Center City Kehillah, Repair the World: Philadelphia, and Makom Community for a morning of service and learning in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
During this all-ages event, participants will engage in projects and learning about various ways to help vulnerable populations in our communities. The parallel learning sessions for adults and for families with children will be led by Rabbi Seth Goren from Repair the World and Beverly Socher-Lerner from Makom Community.
Our two featured projects will be working with Our Closet on a portable sorting where we will help to organize and prepare clothes for a future “pop up” shop, and making cards that will be given out to children and families at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).
Our Closet is a volunteer-driven organization that provides clothing to vulnerable Philadelphians and their families free of charge by operating “pop-up shops” throughout the city. Our Closet receives countless bags of donated clothing each month, and they need help sorting through these clothes before they can go to our store.
