Description: Join us for an afternoon of learning with community professionals who serve people with disabilities in the Jewish community and beyond. This gathering is for clergy, educators, synagogue professionals + direct service providers for people with disabilities to learn, reflect, plan + celebrate together in advance of February Jewish Disability Awareness + Inclusion Month. Presented by the Jewish Disability Inclusion Consortium of Greater Philadelphia

Program Schedule:
12 – 1pm – Lunch + Film Screening + Clergy Panel: THIRTEEN – short film by Allison Norlian, writer/filmmaker, inspired by the true story of her own mother and sister, THIRTEEN tells the story of a mother fighting to have a Bat Mitzvah for her profoundly disabled daughter — in a synagogue that refuses to break from tradition. THIRTEEN has screened internationally in Israel and Canada and has been an official selection at several prestigious festivals, including the Austin Film Festival. Allison and her mother will speak on a panel with clergy to reflect and assess the state of disability access in the Jewish community today.
1 – 2:00 pm – Break out sessions facilitated by Direct Service Providers:
– Creating Inclusive Friendships
– Employing Adults with Disabilities
– Behavioral/emotional supports and parent education opportunities
– Sources on Disabilities for Rabbis
2- 3:00 pm – Working Groups: Teams will work together to identify and address challenges, as well as reflect on next steps
