Description: PJ Our Way tweens and families join us for an afternoon where we can put our technology to use for a great mitzvah! Together, we will join community members to help identify accessible locations in the Lower Merion Area.
At 2pm, we will meet at the JFCS Brodsky building for an opening presentation. Each PJOW family will download a smartphone app called “Access Earth” and be given a map of a small area in Lower Merion (a 5 minute drive.) We can use our sleuthing skills and a tape measure to identify the accessibility of local business and enter it into the app. Are the entrances big enough for a wheelchair? Are there steps only, or a ramp too? Community members can then check the app before they venture out so they know what to expect.
At 3:30pm, we will return to JFCS for some snacks, and also enjoy an exhibit of art focusing on disability awareness.
