Elana Weinstein and Ken Brownstein and their children Madison, 5 and Noah, 2, enjoy seeing friends and participating in mitzvah projects at jkidphilly programs. We asked them about their Jewish life at home and in the community.
What kind of Jewish activities do you enjoy at home?
At home, we celebrate shabbat, attend tot shabbat and family shabbat services, celebrate holidays, learn Hebrew words, read PJ library books, do mitzvot, and listen to Jewish music in the car.
What are your favorite PJ Library books?
Good Night, Laila Tov is our all time favorite. Some of our favorite PJ library books are A Watermelon in the Sukkah, Sammy the Spider books, Dinosaur Goes to Israel, Rise and Shine: A Challah Day Tale, Old MacNoah had an Ark, Ella’s Trip to Israel, and It’s…. It’s…. It’s….. a Mitzvah.
Are you part of any other organized Jewish communities?
We are members of Har Zion Temple and our children attend the NCCECE pre-school and day camp at Har Zion Temple. Our daughter, Madison, will begin her first summer at Harlam Day Camp in June.
What do you think other parents should know about jkidphilly?
Parents should know that jkidphilly is a phenomenal organization that brings together Jewish families from all over the Philadelphia area to celebrate being Jewish by engaging in Jewish culture through activities, lessons, and mitzvot. Our children love going to jkidphilly events!
